Rosa “Pudney” Kelly was a gracious giver and the life of any party. Her sense of humor could light up a room. Because she never met a stranger, she was cherished by all those she encountered and never failed to leave a lasting impression.
Rosa was born on March 17, 1948 to Adam and Clara Harris in Katy, Texas. She graduated from Ralph Bunche High School in 1965. Shortly after, she wed Luther Scott and to this union Jackie was born. Rosa had an unwavering faith in God, and united with Antioch Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Simon Jeffery in Katy, Texas. It was there she accepted Christ at an early age.
On September 16, 1972 Rosa and Charlie were united in holy matrimony. Together they had three daughters and one son. They were united in marriage for 48 years until the Lord called him home in 2021. They both had a genuine and pure love for people. For this reason, they were a major source of love and support for many.
Over the years, Rosa actively worshiped and served in the choir, mission, Pastor’s Aide Committee and as a Deaconess. She remained a faithful member of Antioch Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Pastor Tyrone Freeman until her passing.
Rosa was employed with Katy ISD (East Transportation) for twenty plus years. She will be fondly remembered by family and friends as giving, vibrant and outgoing. She never met a stranger. Rosa had a great affection for people and was never coy about letting them know. She left us with much to look back on and smile.
For seventy-five years the world was graced by Rosa’s presence. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Charlie Lee Kelly; parents (Adam and Clara); son (Elvis); four sisters (Ethel, Julia, Alfreida and Frances); four brothers (Leslie, Donald, Raymond, and Eugene). She leaves to cherish her memory: three children, Jackie Scott, Raylynn Kelly(Billy), Tarsha Grant(Paul); nine grandchildren, La’Tandria Mack(Brandon), Brittney Scott, Terrick Scott, De’Andre Kelly, Kia Thomas, Breanna Prophet, Mackenzie Craven, Marcus Grant, Dylan; three great-grandchildren, Jaiden Bates, Jaila Edwards and Faith Jones; two godchildren, Demetria Hooper(Richard), and Kendric Hood(Kelly) and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends who loved her dearly.
