With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Rachel Evon Thomas. Born on July 28, 1989, in Columbia, South Carolina, Rachel was the beloved daughter of Todd Thomas and Christella Broussard.
Rachel was raised in Columbia, South Carolina, where she attended schools in the Columbia Independent School District. She and her family would later relocate to Houston, Texas, where she would resume her education in the Houston Independent School District. Rachel was a gentle and fragile soul—a devoted mother, daughter, sister and friend. She was well loved by those who had the joy of growing up with her and left a lasting impression on the people she met.
Rachel had both a beautiful singing voice and a deep love for music. Her favorite song, Residuals by Chris Brown, was the soundtrack to many moments in her life. She also had a strong sense of style and self-expression, known for her love of beauty, especially getting her eyelashes and nails done.
Above all, Rachel shared a special and unbreakable bond with her sister, Sunday, and she loved her son, Rashad Todd Thomas, with all of her heart. Her family was everything to her, and her love will forever echo in the lives she touched.
On Thursday, March 27, 2025, Rachel was reunited with her beloved mother, Christella Broussard —the one she longed to see the most, her grandmother, Mamie Thomas and her maternal grandmother, Consuela Broussard.
Rachel leaves to carry her memory with love and grace her cherished son, Rashad Todd Thomas; her father, Todd Thomas; her loving sister, Sunday Broussard and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Rachel's presence will be profoundly missed, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her. Gone too soon but never forgotten. May she rest in peace.
