Nadine Swanson Moore was born on August 28, 1944 to Gloria Grant and Lomax Smith. As a young child, she was adopted and raised by Prate and Odell Swanson of Pell City, Alabama.
She was their only child and they loved her dearly.
She had 6 siblings: Tyrone had 1 child (deceased) and Jerry (deceased) has 1 child. Barbara and Monica both have 1 child, Linda has 2 children and Delores (deceased) has 2 children.
As an adult, Nadine was blessed with 7 children — Dexter, Sheila, Derry, Audra, Sheri, Shernita and Kendra.
She was later blessed with 8 grandchildren that she loved dearly — Chrystal, Dominique, Kristian, De’Avian (Dee), Emilian (Emil), Andre (deceased) Kevin (KT), Khameron (Kham) and 2 great-grandchildren Kareem (KJ) and Marley.
Over the years, Nadine would alternate between Alabama and Georgia, before finally settling down with her family in Houston, Texas in 1982.
She was a tireless worker, starting at age 13, spreading across different industries from medical field to security and any odd jobs she could take to support her family. It wasn’t easy but she always found a way to make ends meet to ensure her children were safe, taken care of and loved. After 47 years in the workforce, she retired from Spring Branch hospital due to health issues. Because she loved working and being able to be on the go, retirement was initially a big adjustment for her.
Eventually she found her joy in spending time with her family, you could always find her on the phone with her children or grandchildren laughing and joking. She passed knowing how loved she was by many. She will truly be missed.
To our mom, mama, mother, ma, Gran Gran, Nana, sweet Nadine: WE LOVE YOU NOW AND FOREVER...
