James Howard Stewart was born in Bryan, Texas on July 23, 1952 to his parents, Floyd Stewart, Jr. and Alice Fay Stewart.
James left home at an early age in life to pursue his passion of being a professional gambler. He liked to play all types of gambling games, but his favorite was shooting pool. He would watch videotapes for hours to perfect his skills. James was always smiling no matter what he may have been going through. He also loved talking to his sons about sports. There wasn’t a team or game that he didn’t know the stats on. He loved to eat food and his favorite dish was homemade banana pudding.
James was no stranger to love. His first wife was Regina Ritell and to this union three children were born: Ronnie Ritell, Pamela Ritell and James Stewart, Jr. He later met Phillis Shephard and together they raised two daughters, Nina and Stacy Shephard.
James was preceded in death by his parents: Floyd Stewart, Jr. and Alice Fay Stewart; and his son, James Howard Stewart, Jr.
His legacy will be continue forth through his four children: Ronnie Ritell, Sr., Pamela Jones, Stacy Shephard and Nina Shephard; his twelve grandchildren: Jalan Stewart, Jametria Stewart, Jade Butler, Kayla Brim, Jaylen Brown, Dameon Nelson, Chassidy Miller, Micah Edwards, Antranese McNeil, Oren Ritell, Valicia Ritell and Ronnie Ritell, Jr.; nine great-grandchildren; four brothers: Earnest Stewart, Charles Stewart, Johnnie Stewart and Donald Stewart; one sister, Joann Stewart host of nieces, nephews, cousins and life long friends.
