Kendra Lynnette Smith, affectionately known as "Big Ken," was born on April 13, 1987, to her loving parents, Nicheeka and Fredrick Smith, in Houston, TX. She was raised and educated in Alief, TX (A.I.S.D.). Kendra dedicated her life to God at a young age, was baptized, and regularly attended Friendship Missionary Baptist Church.
Kendra was known for her infectious smile, big heart, and deep love for her family and friends. Her generous spirit and warm personality endeared her to everyone, earning her many cherished brothers and sisters.
Kendra passed away on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Memorial Hermann Memorial City in Houston, TX. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Stella L. Smith; her grandfathers: Alvin Celestine, Thomas Smith, and Norman Henderson; and her aunt, Terrelle Celestine.
Kendra’s memory will be cherished by her parents: Nicheeka Smith and Fredrick Smith; and her grandmother, Norma Vigilant (Cyprien). She is also survived by her aunts: Beverly Edwards and Lenora McIntosh; her uncle, Derrick Smith (Shandrian), and her siblings: Quiana Woods, Kiara Smith, Christopher Allen, and Troy Sutton. Kendra leaves behind her nieces and nephews: Landen Woods, Layla Woods, Lex Woods, Ca Maureen Lewis, and Christian Lewis—as well as her godbrothers: Samuel Papion and Dietrich Harris. She is also remembered by her godmother, Musu Kemokai and her god-sisters: Elexxis Papillon, Victoria Kemokai, and Kenidi Washington.
Kendra has two favorite cousins she loved to her core, Ashton Griffin and Pierra Andrews.
Kendra leaves us with her unwavering love for each and every one. She will always be loved, remembered, and deeply missed.
