Julia Gabriel Waid Obituary

Julia "NuNu" Raye Richardson-Waid, 76, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.

Julia was born on January 8, 1949, in Elton, Louisianna, to Ira and Annie Bell Richardson.

Julia moved to Houston, Texas at an early age and attended Houston Independent School District.

Julia grew up as a devoted Christian and at an early age to be baptized under the leadership of P.L. Williams at Trinity Garden First Baptist Church. Her warm and unwavering faith guided her life and her approach to motherhood.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Ira and Annie Bell Richardson; husband, Vernon Waid; sister, Ella Richardson and son, Edward C. Walker.

She is survived by her children: Bridget DeFriend (Norman), De-Adriean Walker (Cedric), and Racquel Davis (Augustus); grandchildren: Damiun Walker (Christiane), Miocha Walker, Ronniecka Walker, Ronnie Jordan, Jr., Aspen Spurlock (Darius), Brittany Ford (Michael, Jr.), Adriana Castillo, Willesha Rivera (Jeremy), Mark Jackson, Jr. (Bryanna), Edward Walker, Jr., Augustus Davis IV; 29 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great- granddaughter; 2 nieces: Rene Garret and Monique Richardson; a special sister-in-law and niece: Patty Gabriel and Enola Gabriel; and 2 special friends: Shountay White and Ursula Turk.
