Ira Lee Brown, also known as “Zeke,” was born November 7, 1938 to Viola Higgins and Hamp Brown in Bay City, Texas. He gained his wings on Sunday October 16, 2022.
Ira Lee received his education from Hilliard High School in Bay City, Texas where he participated in football. After graduation he attended Jarvis Christian College where he also played football.
At an early age Ira Lee attended church with his parents. Later in life, he moved to Houston and became a Charter Member of New Covenant Christian Church, under the leadership of his nephew Bishop Billy Hines.
Ira Lee met and united in holy matrimony to Meredith Richardson in 1970 in Bryan, Texas.
He retired after spending 35 years as a Truck Driver. Ira Lee was known to family and friends as being an excellent dominoes player and he loved watching sports.
Ira Lee is proceeded in death by his parents, Hamp and Viola Brown; his sister, Mary Louise Maxwell and his step-son, Darrell Coleman.
Ira Lee leaves to cherish his memories, a wife of 52 years Meredith Brown; a son, Anthony Brown; three daughters; a brother, Charles H. Brown (Katherine); a sister in-law, Roberta Nancy Harris and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. All of who have loved and respected him dearly.
