Douglas Banks Obituary

Douglas Lewis Banks was born February 4, 1955 in Houston, Texas to Pauline and Willie JT Banks, Sr.

Doug graduated from George Washington Carver High School. After graduation, he attended Prairie View A&M University, graduating in 1977 with his degree in Architectural Engineering. He obtained an internship with Linbeck Construction, where remained an exemplary employee with in the Linbeck, Lott and Mission Construction companies, until he retired in 2021.

Doug enjoyed playing dominoes, traveling and spending time with his family. Two of his most favorite past times were fishing and listening to old school music, especially the Isley Brothers and Earth, Wind and Fire.   

In December 2018, he married Kay Sandles-Banks. To this union became a blended family of four children and five grandchildren.

On Saturday, June 17, 2023, Doug departed this earthly life.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Reverend Willie JT Banks, Sr. and Pauline Banks and 1 brother, Willie JT Banks, Jr.

He is survived by his wife, Kay; 2 daughters, Tamara Curl-Grimes (Leo) and Ashley Banks; 2 bonus sons, Keahton and Ethan Proctor; 5 grandchildren: JuCarra, Darrius, Jade, Keandell and Karsen; 1 brother, Curtis Banks, Sr. (Marie); 5 sisters: Shirley Hudson, Dorothy Elmore, Ernestine Shepard, Melzena Bernard (Nelson) and Katherine Johnson (Terrance); 7 sisters-in-law and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
