Donnie Carter, a loving and devoted father, grandfather, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully on September 12, 2023, at the age of 69.
Donnie was born on April 18, 1954, in Houston, Texas. He was the son of Ben Carter and Mary Cooper.
Donnie was raised in Houston, Texas. Graduated from Booker T. Washington High School. His passion for God began to develop within his teenage years and never left. He was a longtime member of the Gospel Way M.B.C, under the leadership of Pastor C.R. Williams.
His career journey included working at NASA, the Naval Port and several Refineries before deciding to attend Carpentry School. After completion, was employed by a construction company, where he worked his way to Superintendent and Project Manager. After some time, he decided to go into business for himself, when D&C Remodeling became his joy. He took his profession so seriously that he never left without his tape measure and keyring full of keys. Remodeling was not just a job to him, he was truly helping people by doing repairs and improvements, to the degree that he would lower the price of his services to make them more affordable. He prided himself on the constant repeat customers and the many relationships he developed over the years.
Donnie loved everything about the Masonic order. In June of 2015, he organized and formed the M.W. Lords of King David Grand Lodge A.F & A.M, under the affiliation of Ahiman Rezon Supreme Council. His leadership was simple and plain: Ritual, Protocol and Etiquette. He was considered a trailblazer and a warrior among those who walked with him. He was proud of his relationships with the many brothers and sisters across various jurisdictions. He patiently waited and was excited to have three generations of his bloodline within the jurisdiction. His personal masonic journey was eventful and awesome. He was appointed Supreme High Priest of the Royal Arch Degree, a member of the Supreme Lodge of Perfection, Supreme Rose Croix, Supreme Knights Templar, Imperial Council of Shriners and Inspector General. His legacy will continue to grow and expand.
Donnie was the go-to for all of his family. Whenever someone needed help, they called him. He would talk his noise first and then assist however needed. He had special relationships with so many of his nieces and nephews. He always had a word of advice for those he loved, regardless of if you requested it or not. He had a very special connection with his sister Carolyne. Simply put they acted similar to twins.
Donnie was preceded in death by his parents, Ben and Mary Carter and three siblings: Charles Carter, Mable Carter and Carl Carter.
Donnie leaves to cherish his memory five children: Andre’ Jeffery, Donnie Carter, Jr., Kimberely Carter, Benjamin Carter and Chas Carter; ten grandchildren; two sisters: Carolyne Patrick and Mary Elizabeth Battles of Union City, California; a companion, Sholliett Andrus and host of neices, nephews, cousins and friends.
