Byron U’Andre “Big B” Phillips was a light in the lives of all who knew him — a kind heart, a loving spirit, and a quiet strength that touched family and friends alike. He was known for his huge, radiant smile that could brighten any room and bring comfort to those around him. He was shaped by the love and wisdom of his mother, Colotta Wilson; two grandmothers: Ella Mae Boyd and Debra Wilson and his great-grandmother, Dorothy McGarity. All of whom preceded him in passing and now welcome him home.
Byron was a graduate of Houston Can Academy, a reflection of his determination and drive. He was a natural-born hustler — always ambitious, always working toward something better, and always finding a way to provide for those he loved. His hustle was more than just work, it was a reflection of his heart and his resilience.
Though he leaves this world too soon, Byron’s legacy lives on through his beloved child, Legion Phillips; his girlfriend, Shantreese Lavallis; his father, Kenyada Boyd (Christie) and his four sisters: Monique Lewis, Crystalyn Ross (Marquice), Kayla Johnson (Ralph) and Kenyale Boyd. He is also remembered with love by his five aunts: LaTonia White McCreary (Donte), Keisha Love (Shawn), Creasella White, Patrice Johnwell (Lester) and Christy Thomas (Roderick); his uncle, Patrick Dickerson (Tiffany) and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends whose lives he enriched with his huge heart and that unforgettable smile.
Byron’s presence was a blessing and his memory will forever remain in our hearts.
